ESG is a sponsor of SOPHE's Pedagogy in Health Promotion (PHP) Journal

ESG and SOPHE  leadership have collaborated to to develop publishing opportunities for ESG undergraduate and graduate students; read the press release. This partnership, announced at the 2025 SOPHE & ESG annual meetings in Long Beach, CA, consists of the following opportunities:

  1. A newly developed section in each edition of SOPHE’s Pedagogy in Health Promotion (PHP) journal focused on publishing ESG student and member work. Depending upon the growth and development of this student publication section in PHP, similar student focused publication sections may be developed in other SOPHE journals in the future.

  2. National ESG will contribute $5,000 annually to the publication costs of PHP.

  3. An ESG representative on the PHP Editorial Board (currently the ESG Director of Publications) will work with SOPHE, PHP and Sage publications in the development of this new student focused publication opportunity.

  4. An opportunity will be developed that allows students to gain practical training and experience in the editorial and publishing process. This will be modeled after “Reviewer in Training” programs/models that exist in other professional journals managed by Sage Publications.

  5. The ESG Logo will be displayed in a prominent position on the PHP cover.

More details on how to submit for publication coming soon!

How to access PHP:

Archived Journals: Eta Sigma Gamma Monograph Series and The Health Educator

It is not anticipated at this time that the past publications of ESG, Eta Sigma Gamma Monograph Series and The Health Educator will continue to be published as they have been in the past.

ESG's last Historian, Alan Sofalvi, spearheaded the development of the Eta Sigma Gamma Health Education Historical Library in 2021, which was created to preserve ESG's historical documents from 1969-2014 and make them available to students and scholars for research. This ESG collection is housed within the SUNY Cortland Archives and Special Collections

ESG Collection at SUNY Cortland

Refer to the finding guide for an inventory of materials in the Eta Sigma Gamma Health Education Historical Library.

Note that historical documents have not been fully digitized at this time. The ESG organizational records have been partially digitized and are available on Digital Commons at Cortland. Further, the historical library of ESG is available through ONESearch at SUNY Cortland to browse. Physical travel to Cortland may be required to access the full scope of the record.
