ESG Annual Meeting a Success!

If you were unable to attend our annual meeting in Tampa, we missed you! ESG hosted a very successful 41st annual meeting in conjunction with the American School Health Association’s annual meeting.

Gamman’s were treated to outstanding presentations, our annual business meeting and awards ceremony, and the social with the ever-famous t-shirt exchange.

Regina McCoy Pulliam provided an energy-packed presentation, “Developing Your Advocacy Plan,” where she offered tools and resources for chapters to use in developing advocacy activities. Participants were presented with examples of easy ways we can advocate. Regina also illustrated how quickly and easily we could use Photo Story 3 to create a visual and oral advocacy presentation.

Dr. Kelly Wilson encouraged all participants to publish with her presentation “See Your Name in Print: Publishing in the ESG Monograph.” Kelly offered insight into how to write a winning manuscript and offered tips for how to meet the needs of the editor and guest editors of the ESG Monograph. Chapter members were asked to consider submitting a manuscript to share success stories with other chapters.

Congratulations to all our award winners! Dr. Kelli McCormack-Brown received our highest award, The Honor Award, and presented us with lessons from The Last Lecture. Other award winners included:
• Weslee Chew, Gamman of the Year
• Nancy Katherine Johnson (Reid), Founders Award
• Gamma Rho Chapter at Truman State, Chapter Excellence Award
• Dr. Marianne Frauenknecht, Distinguished Service Award
• Dr. Kathleen Conley, Distinguished Service Award
• Dr. Debra Sutton, W. E. Schaller Presidential Citation

Dr. Mal Goldsmith and Gina Goebel were recognized for their service to the Board of Directors, and Laura Elmore and Irene O’Boyle were welcomed to the Board as the new Student at-Large Representative and the Director of Chapter Development respectively. Dr. Catherine Rasberry was welcomed as ESG’s representative to the Coalition of National Health Education Organization’s (CNHEO) Ethics Task Force.

Vice President Dr. Ranjita Misra, in conjunction with the University of South Florida’s Delta Kappa Chapter members and faculty sponsor, hosted a food- and fun-filled social. The t-shirt exchange, always popular with student Gammans, was once again a huge success.
