15 Oct Fall 2016 Presidential Address
Happy Fall, Gammans! At my University we have an employee charitable giving campaign and this year’s theme is “Give To-day to Change Tomorrow.” While I often hear this theme and message from my University President, I can’t help but think about National Eta Sigma Gamma and our Gammans. I think about the work you are doing to advance and progress the pillars of our organization – teaching, research, service and advocacy.
I believe in the potential each of you have to impact our local communities and the world around us, and I am grateful this honorary has the opportunity to contribute through the great health education efforts of our collegiate chapters. I hope you embrace the activities your chapters have selected to participate in and recognize your importance in leaving a meaningful impact in your community and beyond.
I am very proud of the efforts by our Gammans participation in health education activities last year, and I encourage each chapter to set even greater goals for the coming semesters. Our board members have reviewed reports and recognize our collegiate chapters are planning and implementing programs with their highest ideals represent their local chapter and our Eta Sigma Gamma.
Your ESG National Board of Directors is strategically committed to ensuring the future of Eta Sigma Gamma through supporting the advancement of our health education profession. This August, Dr. Holly Moses, Vice President, Dr. Denise Seabert, Secretary/Treasurer, and Dr. Kelly Wilson, President represented Eta Sigma Gamma at the 21st Century Profession Wide Meeting in Chicago. Other people in attendance included national leaders from eight other health education professional organizations, including the American Public Health Association, American School Health Association, and Society of Public Health Educators, our partner for our nation-al business meeting. Over the next few months, we will share the profession wide strategic plan (the outcome/product of the meeting) with our student and professional Gammans.
2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of Eta Sigma Gamma. Take the time to celebrate this historical event with your local Gammans throughout this academic year. We hope to see our past, present and even future Gammans at the Green & Gold Gala, Awards Ceremony, Annual Business Meeting, and our Eta Sigma Gamma oral and poster sessions we have planned March 29th through April 1st 2017 in Denver, CO!
